Jamie Foxx Writing Laverne And Shirley Script with Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner starring

Jamie Foxx, actresses Jessica Biel and Jennifer GarnerWe mentioned last month that there might be a movie remake of the hit TV sitcom Laverne and Shirley, which ran from 1976 to 1983.  While at the premiere of his new movie Valentine’s Day, Director Garry Marshall hinted that it might be in the works:
“We’re gonna work on that,” Marshall tells Extra. “My sister Penny and Cindy are gonna have a guest cameo. They’re gonna walk “schlemiel, schlemazel” — or they’re gonna get tired in the middle and sit down.”
Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner who became best friends on the set of Marshall’s new film Valentine’s Day, now seem to be set to play a very attractive version of Laverne And Shirley, originally played by Gary’s daughter Penny Marshall along side Cindy Williams.
The whole idea started when Jamie Foxx who co-stared with the pretty pair in “Valentine’s Day,” noticed their off-screen chemistry, which reminded him of Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams’ banter.
Foxx says, “During the movie, they were doing stuff off-screen that reminded me of Laverne & Shirley. I think they’re the new Laverne & Shirley. They had some energy, and I mentioned that to Garry Marshall.”  Since then it seems Foxx is now working on the screenplay for the film adaption.
Marshall just recently told TV Guide magazine: “Jamie and I are trying to do it. He’s writing it. It’s a whole different modern take on how they came up on the streets during difficult times.
“Laverne would be this very tough girl with a big ‘L’ tattooed on her arm. Jennifer Garner would play Laverne and Jessica Biel would play Shirley.”
