Eddie Murphy meets daughter and makes peace w/ Spice Girls’ Mel B

In a rare example of Hollywood people behaving like humans, it seems Eddie Murphy is trying to bond with his daughter from a fling with the Spice Girls’ Melanie Brown.
Melanie had a daughter in 2006 and Eddie denied she was his. A paternity test proved him wrong, but Eddie still wanted no contact. But while in New York for the Tribeca Film Festival last month sources say Eddie seemed more tuned to his daughter and wanted to form a connection;
eddiespice[1]“While promoting ‘Shrek Forever After,’ Eddie talked a lot about his kids,” says one insider. “Ever since, he’s been making efforts with Mel to get to know their daughter.”
So Ed hosted a party at his home in L.A last week. His ex-wife, Nicole, and the six children they had together were there, and so was Mel and her husband of three years, movie producer Stephen Belafonte. And with them was Mel and Eddie’s 3-year old daughter – Angel.
“They’ve both said some nasty things about each other to the press,” says the source. “So some guests were shocked. But all the children were there, and it appears they’re one big happy family.”
And it seems this seething, shrieking mass of minority helped Eddie bury the past;
“Angel is Eddie’s youngest child, and Nicole wanted their children to know her.” the insider tells the News. “That helped Eddie get past all the animosity he’s had toward Mel.”
Also there was Shaun Robinson, the ‘Access Hollywood’ host who dated Eddie before Mel arrived on the scene.
“At one point, those two were in the kitchen together and seemed pretty friendly. There were whispers that maybe they’d get back together someday.”
In 2002, Eddie made one of the biggest money-losers in cinema history; ‘The Adventures of Pluto Nash.’ It cost $110-million and grossed just $7-million – worldwide. One can only hope he makes better choices in both his films and his love-life henceforth…
